Top Thrill 2
The big news at Cedar Point this year is Top Thrill 2!
At the time of writing this article, the attraction is down for maintenance from the manufacturer on the ride trains, but we “SHOULD” expect Top Thrill 2 to be back up and running in no time.
This new attraction rocks and it really puts Cedar Point back in front as the Roller Coaster Capital of the world. They simply have the best lineup of coasters on the planet. Some other parks may have one or two great coasters, but Cedar Point has SO MANY GOOD ONES! I really loved Cedar Point even without Top Thrill 2, but it really brings the whole area back to life!

Snake River Expedition Closes for Good
The Family Boat ride that opened only a couple of years ago near Camp Snoopy and the Gemini Midway will not reopen for the 2024 season. This ride had a limited operating schedule. It wouldn’t open until Memorial Day and it would close around Labor Day.
This was a live action boat ride, similar to Jungle Cruise at Disney. We personally loved a ride on this attraction during our visit since it was one of the only rides in the park that the whole family could ride together.
Last year, when they closed the Forbidden Frontier area, they changed the story of the ride to a real estate venture instead of thieves trying to steal gold. We weren’t really a fan of the new story, but we can understand why the loss of Forbidden Frontier might have led to this change, and the eventual closure of the ride.
Brand New Prestige/VIP Lounge!
The millennium club lounge near Millennium Force received a nice upgrade during the offseason. Previously, this area was covered with a temporary tent structure, similar to what’s at Carowinds. This year, we received a brand new permanent pavilion structure.
The area feels much larger now with plenty of seating. The TVs are suspended from the ceilings to save on space and more room for seating. The high ceilings really make the seating area feel bigger since you almost had to duck to enter the previously tented area.
Guests can also buy some of the 2024 Cedar Point Merchandise in the VIP area. You can still also purchase alcohol for those 21 and older, so it’s a nice place to grab a drink without a long line. They still have snacks and they have also added pop machine in the lounge. So if you have the drink plan, you can fill up your drink without needing to leave the VIP area.
The new patio furniture was extremely comfortable. I almost fell asleep on it twice during opening weekend! There are definitely going to be some nappers in the VIP area this year!
Food News!
In Food News, Melt has closed its doors at Cedar Point. Melt is a local restaurant chain that has recently closed multiple locations. This list also now includes the Melt location at Cedar Point. Melt was not on the meal plan, but it was a unique place in the park to enjoy a Massive Grilled Cheese sandwich in a sit down setting. They also had an expansive bar menu and often participated in themed cocktails during HalloWeekends.
With one shop closing, a new food/drink venue has opened. 21 and Colder is an alcoholic beverage stand near Rougarou that is serving up frozen cocktails such as margaritas.
Cedar Point has also announced (and temporarily delayed) a Special Top Thrill 2 menu. The offerings will be available one at a time at different venues around the park. Check out this article for the full details from the Sandusky Registrar.
Other News
There have been some smaller changes around Camp Snoopy as well, including the opening of a Coca-Cola refresh station in Camp Snoopy that has been closed for the past few seasons. We also saw the Camp Snoopy Theatre roof was removed during opening weekend as well. I wasn’t sure if that’s for the new shows or if they are performing maintenance or an upgrade to it.
Shows for 2024
The Jack Aldrich Theatre will host a new show called the “Class of 99” Starting June 8th.
There will be a show on the main stage (near Coasters) called the Rally starting June 1st.
Red Garter Saloon has also started “Back then Right Now” on May 18th.
Camp Snoopy will feature a new show at the Camp Snoopy theatre called Snoopy’s Dog Days of Summer starting on May 25th.
