Hotel Breakers!

Hotel Breakers has been open since 1905! That was 118 years ago before our latest stay at Cedar Point’s flagship resort. Hotel Breakers is located on the Cedar Point Peninsula and is only steps from Cedar Point, Cedar Point Shores, and the Beach!

What Makes a Theme Park Resort Great?

What are guests looking for when they choose to stay “On-Site” to visit a theme park? One major difference between “On-Site” resorts and “Off-Site” resorts are exclusive benefits offered to “On-Site” resort guests. These perks are only available to resort guests and are often the deciding factor to stay at a theme park resort.

Early Park Entry

So what types of benefits do guests staying at Hotel Breakers? Guests staying at all Cedar Point Resorts (including Sawmill Creek, Castaway Bay, Lighthouse Point, and Express Hotel) all receive Early Park Entry Early Park entry allows resort guests to enter the park an hour before schedule opening. This allows resort guests lower wait times on some of the biggest rides in the park, including Millennium Force and the newest roller coaster, Wild Mouse for 2023. In previous years, all season pass holders (excluding Summer Pass) also received this benefit, which reduced the value of this perk.

This year, we loved the reduced crowd levels during early park entry. Only Resort guests, Marina guests, Platinum Season Pass Holders, and Prestige Pass holders have Early Park Entry in 2023.

Location, Location, Location!

In addition to getting Early Park entry, Hotel Breakers resort guests are only steps from all of the attractions Cedar Point has to offer. Cedar Point has an entrance toward the back of the park at the Magnum gate near Hotel Breakers. Hotel Breakers is also within walking distance to the Cedar Point Waterpark, Cedar Point Shores.

Being within walking distance of the parks is a huge plus! This allows guests to experience all three attractions at their leisure. It’s extremely nice to be able to enjoy Cedar Point in the morning and walk back to the resort for some quick R&R at the resort, then hit the beach or Waterpark to cool off in the afternoon before heading back to the park to enjoy some night rides and Cedar Points night time show and fireworks, Summer-Bration!

Lighthouse Point is the only other Cedar Point Resort located on the peninsula , but it’s beyond the water park. Definitely check this location out for Camping, RVs, and Cabins/Cottages if Breakers is booked!

On-Site Restaurants

Hotel Breakers is home to three sit down dining locations, an Ice Cream Parlor, A Pizza shop, Starbucks, and a free shuttle service to two other restaurants, Famous Daves and Bay Harbor! Be sure to use your season pass discount at these locations if you are a season pass holder! These restaurants are not limited to resort guests, so definitely check them out during your next visit to Cedar Point!

We ate at Tomo Hibachi during our stay and loved it! This isn’t the most kid friendly option at the resort, but be sure to check out TGI Fridays or Perkins on site for those picky eaters!

For Tomo Hibachi, be sure to make a reservation, the front desk can provide a phone number to call for restaurant reservations. The entrance to Tomo Hibachi is in the main lobby next to Perkins. Tomo Hibachi is also seen as a “Dinner” option, with hours from 2:00 PM – 10:00 PM (this times change, so be sure to check with the front desk!).

Perkins definitely seemed like the Breakfast place for resort guests during our visit, and the hours are 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM.

For TGI Friday’s, the location is only open on Saturday and Sunday from Lunch and Dinner from 12:00 PM – 12:00 AM. They are open Thursday night for dinner starting at 4:00 PM to 12:00 AM (schedule). We did try to order take out at about 10 PM, but they stopped providing take out and only allowed for Dine in. This might have changed as we get into busy season with summer, but we just wanted to share!

In previous years, Dominos had an on-site location in the resort, but that has been replaced with Hotel Breaker’s own pizza shop this year. Note, there is no storefront or sit down dining location for the Pizza shop, but it can be ordered and delivered to your resort room.

Last, but definitely least, is the on-site Starbucks! Be sure to use your Season Pass discount if you have one here. They offer some quick bites for breakfast in addition to coffee and tea!

In addition to the dining above, there are two bars on site, the Surf Lounge and the Sand Bar. the Sand Bar is located right outside the Rotunda, and the Surf Lounge is inside the Rotunda next to Starbucks. Be sure to try some of their signature cocktails, since you get to keep the cup!

The Surf Lounge and Sand Bar hours vary, but you can expect these to be open by Lunch Time and close before Midnight.

We did not get a chance to take the shuttle over to Famous Daves or Bay Harbor. These two restaurants are not on site at Breakers, but near the Valravn Gate and Marina on the Peninsula. The shuttle schedule can be obtained from the front desk!

The Rooms and Amenities!

Although Cedar Point Hotel Breakers has been open since 1905, the Hotel has undergone expansions and remodeling. Be sure to try and get a beachfront room! The views of Lake Erie are magnificent!

During our visit we stayed in a King Suite right off the Rotunda! We had a semi-beach view that was very nice, but we did not have a balcony. During our stay, it was on opening day, so we did not prioritize the balcony with the cooler temps.

We loved the roller coaster and classic Breakers theming in the rooms! The room also had a fridge and a Microwave, which is great for making the kids breakfast and saving some leftovers from the restaurants. We liked the mattress for the King Sized bed during our stay. It wasn’t the “best” mattress we had every slept on, but we liked it and we did not have any issues sleeping on it.

Hotel guests also get free parking with in and out privileges. Just have your reservation Email ready. This has a barcode for the front gate attendant and Breakers attendant to scan.

Resort guests also get complimentary WI-FI during their stay and an on site Gift Shop with exclusive Cedar Point Breakers merchandise.

The Resort also boasts two outdoor pools with a hot tub at each, an indoor pool with a spa, and an outdoor kids pool/splash pad! Both outdoor pools and the kid’s pool/splash pad are right on the beach!

Only resort guests can use the pools. We are looking forward to our next stay when it’s a little warmer to fully experience these amenities. Let us know your thoughts on the pool and hotel amenities!

Why is Breakers Better than the Rest?

Hotel Breakers has it all. Breakers offers resort guests Early Park Entry, it is within walking distance of two parks (Cedar Point and Cedar Point Shores), has ample dining venues, and has great rooms!

Other On-Site Resorts are often “close” to the park, but definitely not this close! Some of the Disney resorts on the Magic Kingdom Monorail are often the most coveted for Magic Kingdom guests due to the close proximity to the park and offer stay at these resorts for a premium cost.

However, you still have to wait for monorail and depending on your resort, includes stops at the other monorail resorts. When staying at Cedar Point, a quick 5-10 minute walk will get you to either park with no waiting!

Other on-site resorts have dining venues, but Breakers has multiple options to choose from! Some resorts have a quick service and one sit down location. Breakers has five (three on site, and two a quick shuttle away), and two bars with a Starbucks.

With Early Entry in addition to the previously mentioned benefits, this resort tops the lists for one of the best Theme Park resorts in the country and is definitely worth checking out during your next visit to Cedar Point.
