Adventure Port – Coming Summer 2023
Adventure port is the new themed area coming to Kings Island this summer. The land consists of two new flat rides, Sol Spin and Cargo Loco, an enhanced theming of the Adventure Express , the Mercado, and Enrique’s quick service restaurant.
The two new flat rides are both Zamperla rides. Zamperla is also the coaster manufacturer for Cedar Point’s latest roller coaster, Wild Mouse, which is also set to debut in 2023. It seems that Cedar Fair is deepening its relationship with Zamperla across multiple parks. Current rumors also have Zamperla re-theming the Top Thrill Dragster at Cedar Point for 2024, but this has not yet been confirmed or announced.
Both rides boast to encourage family themed participation and attendance at the parks, with Cargo Loco being a more “familiy-friendly” attraction. Check out our video above for the latest on the construction progress. Both of these new flat rides and Adventure Express were not open on opening day and scheduled debut this summer.
However, Enrique’s Cantina and the Mercado were open on opening day! Enrique’s quick service functions like most Cedar Fair standard quick service restaurants with two lines and a chipotle style serving where you pick and choose your ingredients/items through a queue line.
For food options, you can select a Burrito, Tacos, or Burrito bowl as an entree. All three are apart of the meal plan. They also had queso and guacamole for an additional cost in addition to a selection of desserts.
Overall, we thought the food was very good! I recommend trying some of the spicier salsas since the Pico and corn salsa we pretty mild.
We also opted to try one of the desserts, the Churro. We loved this item the most! The Churros were made to order, so it was hot and fresh! Highly recommend trying some of their desserts if you get the chance! Check out our video above for the full review!
After visiting Enrique’s we also wanted to try one of the pre-mixed blended adult beverages from the Mercado, the Vodka Lemonade. The drink was good, but didn’t seem to be fully blended. With this being opening day at a brand new restaurant, I assumed this to be a fluke, and look forward to trying another blended option (Jack and Coke and the Margarita).
Tom & Chee – The New Location!
After visiting Adventure Port, we headed over to the previous Chick-Fil-A location to find the new Tom & Chee location! Tom & Chee (Tomatos and cheese) is a quick service restaurant location that will be servicing up grilled cheese items and Tomato soup! Tom and Chee will be on the meal plan for a couple of their entrees and a side of chips. You can opt to upgrade to Mac and Cheese as a side instead of chips for $2.
Grain & Grill – Replacing one of the Skyline Chili locations
Towards the front of the park, there will be a new restaurant replacing one of the two Skyline Chili locations, Grain & Grill. This restaurant currently exists at another Cedar Fair park, King’s Dominion . Grain & Grill was not open on opening day but had signs outside for “Coming Soon”. We look forward to trying this new option during our next visit!
Other Changes
Some smaller new updates to the park consist of the Diamondback coaster getting a new paint scheme that fits better with the themed land of Rivertown. This fresh paint job looked great in the park for us to get some cool video!
Another new update for this season is a new Frozen Cocktails stand in Rivertown! We didn’t try anything from the stand during this visit, but we look forward to checking this out next time an Sonder’s new beer for King’s Island, the Strawberry Funnel Cake Ale!
One last change is that the Subway in Coney Mall is no longer open.
We are working on two more King’s Island videos, so make sure to subscribe and follow us on instagram and twitter! Thanks for watching/reading and I hope you enjoyed this real family vacation!
