The Boardwalk
For 2023, Cedar Point re-themed an older area in the park to the Brand New Boardwalk! For the Boardwalk, Cedar Point partnered with Zamperla to bring us the new Wild Mouse Rollercoaster. In addition to the Wild Mouse, the Scrambler and the Matterhorn have been relocated to the Boardwalk joining other the other attractions in the land which include GateKeeper, Tiki Twirl (renamed to Calypso), The Big Wheel, Troika Troika Troika, and Dodgem.
In addition to attractions, Cedar Point debuted the new Grand Pavilion! The Grand Pavilion Restaurant and Bar is a new quick service dining location (Yes, it’s on the meal plan!) with plenty of seating and views to boot!
The Wild Mouse
The Wild Mouse is a new Family Spinning coaster, which means the ride car spins 360 degrees! This offers an additional thrill element when compared with a standard roller coaster and a unique ride experience every time! No two rides are the same since the amount of spin depends on the passengers riding and where they sit!
This coaster is 52 feet tall and reaches maximum speeds of 35 MPH. There are 7 ride cars, including a cheese car and 6 different Mice. The Mice each have a name and will take turns speaking in the loading station which adds to the overall theming of the ride.
Check out our YouTube video for some exclusive On-Ride footage courtesy of Cedar Point during the Media Preview! Our son loves this ride and meets the minimum height requirement of 42″ ! Riders below 48″ require an adult or companion to ride.
The Grand Pavilion
The new Grand Pavilion really blew us away! The Grand Pavilion is a nod to the original Cedar Point Grand Pavilion that was built in 1888 and is still on Cedar Point property today and functions as the convention center.
This is a brand new modern version of the Grand Pavilion of yesteryear. The Grand Pavilion has a great nostalgic feel with modern amenities. We personal love the restrooms on the second floor! The best in the park hands down!
The food is served on the first floor. The menu offers Dry Rubbed Pork, Slow Roasted Turkey, Funnel-cake battered Shrimp, Beer battered fish and Chicken Tenders for main entrees. During our visit, the side options were Syracuse Salt Potatoes, Steak Fries, Pineapple Tropical Fried Rice, Marinated Cucumber, Shaved Brussels Slaw, and Cold Ramen Salad. Check out our instagram post below!
After getting your food on the first floor, head upstairs for a place to sit! The Bar is also on the second floor along with a snack location for smaller bites. Note: The Snack Bar does not have any items on the All Season Dining Plan, but does offer Bavarian Nuts on the menu as part of the All Day Dining Plan.
The Bar is themed perfectly with a roller coaster center piece! The drinks on the menu are a little pricey, especially the frozen cocktails. If looking for a tasty drink for a little less, they offer non alcoholic versions of most of their drinks, if not all. The cost savings is about half compared to their alcoholic counterparts.
After eating and grabbing a drink, be sure to head out to one of the second level outdoor seating areas. There are three areas, the GateKeeper side, Wild Mouse side, and Lake side. All three have wonderful views of the Lake and/or Park!
Let us know if you got a chance to visit the brand new Boardwalk and what you thought! We can’t wait to spend more time here this summer!
