Top Thrill 2 Pass Holder Preview!

Source: Cedar Point

Cedar Point fans are gearing up for another incredible season at Cedar Point in 2024 with the opening of the new recording breaking “Top Thrill 2” triple launch strata coaster. Cedar Point has not advised if Top Thrill 2 will be open on opening day (“Coming in 2024”), but it’s starting to look good with the announcement of this new special event, “Top Thrill 2 Passholder Preview” scheduled for April 30 – May 2 2024.

Opening Day is May 4th, so one would assume that if passholders are available to preview the ride the week before opening, that it would be ready opening day. Cedar Point will release additional details soon on this event according to their website as of today, 12/23/2023.

We predict that the Top Thrill Passholder Preview will coincide with a media event similar to how the Boardwalk and Wild Mouse debut event in 2023, *check out our Video here*. Media could have a second queue line for Top Thrill 2 that is separate from the passholders that could be setup with a GoPro for special on ride footage.

Last year, media entered through the exit of Wild Mouse, while Prestige Passholders were allowed through the standard queue. Only one or two of the Wild Mouse ride vehicles were equipped with a Go-Pro, and these were used for Media.

It’s not clear if “Passholder Preview” will include Gold and Prestige passholders for the Top Thrill 2 preview, but my guess is that they will limit or at least prioritize Prestige passholders in some way to help drive sales for the Prestige Pass. We love the prestige pass and recommend it for anyone that plans to visit the park more than 5 times each year. The perks are great, and we love the single use fast lane per visit.

Check out our video on the Prestige Pass here.

Total Eclipse of the Point

We are extremely excited for this new event scheduled for April 8th, 2024! If you didn’t know, parts of Ohio are scheduled to be in the “Full Eclipse” path for the eclipse, making Ohio and Cleveland a popular destination for 2024! Based on the map below from ohio.gov, Cedar Point will be in the “Nothern Limit of Total Eclipse” and very close tot the “Center Line of Total Eclipse”.

The park is never usually open this early, since opening day is scheduled for May 4, 2024. Based on the description from Cedar Point, the Boardwalk and some “select” rides will be open along with food and drink at the Grand Pavilion. Cedar Point emphasizes viewing the Eclipse from the elevated decks of the Grand Pavilion.

My biggest question for this event is how many tickets/guests will be allowed in the park? Will they sell special tickets like they did last year for the VIP event? We hope that it’s not too expensive, since the price for the VIP event last year was $140 dollars per person.

More details are expected to arrive, and we can’t wait to find out! Make sure to subscribe to our newsletter to get notified!

Boardwalk Nights

Source: Cedar Point

This “New” event has very similar tones to a previous Cedar Point event, Cedar Point Nights that took place on the beach and in the pavilion area. Check out our video from Cedar Point Nights in 2022 (It was not re-announced in 2023).

However, for this event, the party is focused on the Boardwalk and on the beach! The event is scheduled to run from July 19 – August 18, 2024 and is slated to start in the evening or “when the sun goes down”. From the event description, they will have “larger than life entertainment, over the top food and drink, and games for the whole family, music, dancing, and lights and sounds. This event sounds like it will have something for the whole family!

In the previous version of this event, the food was very good and had a “Hawaiin type feel to it. The previous event also had firepits on the beach and a DJ on the beach as well. We are curious on how much of the event will be in the park and out of the park, since Cedar Point Nights was mainly outside the park. Having items on the Boardwalk seems to be a good way to pull people from inside the park onto the beach in our opinion.

We are looking forward to more information on this event and if they will have any specials with the beach cabanas again! Make sure to check out our video on the private cabana!

Frontier Festival

After the list of events was released for 2024, we noticed one Cedar Point Staple missing from the list, Frontier Festival. We loved this event, but it seems like it didn’t make the cut this year. The event usually takes place in the beginning of the operating season in Frontier Town from Memorial Day to mid-June.

The Frontier Festival was themed around Sunflowers and often paired with a local charity, Prayers for Maria. With the demise of this event, we are curious if Prayers for Maria will be involved with Boardwalk Nights instead.

The Frontier Festival also focused on entertainment, food, and drinks in the park. However, it always seemed difficult to have guests participate in this event. For me, I would make a special trip as a season passholder just to experience the Frontier Festival. The food was not included on the meal plan, which was a bummer and could have led to less-than-ideal attendance numbers.

The food each year would focus on a theme, and it was always spectacular! In 2022, the theme was cherry and in 2023, the theme was corn!

Check out our videos for the full reviews! It feels like the Boardwalk nights beat out this event for 2024, especially since Boardwalk nights will be taking place during Cedar Points peak season in the summer. Let us know what you think about this change!

Light up the Point?

We will be keeping an eye on this one, as this event page normally has a dedicated spot on the events list.

The front page of the “Events” page shows fireworks, and also mentions fireworks, “Add fireworks, coaster events and so much more to this list, one day is definitely not enough to experience it all at Cedar Point!”. It could be mentioning the Fireworks during the Summer shows, like “Summer-bration”, but we are thinking that details are forthcoming, and this event could still happen for 2024.

Historically, we have avoided this event since the traffic is know to be busy after the fireworks. We always recommend staying on site and booking Breakers or Light house point if you wish to experience the fireworks at Cedar Point on Fourth of July. That way, you can just walk to your room and avoid the traffic.

I am unsure if these issues/concerns led to cancelling of this event or not, but we will keep an eye on the event page to see if it pops up.

Returning Events

This year, the following events are scheduled to return:

Winter Chill Out

Tickets are scheduled to go on sale in early 2024. This is always a great event, but we have never experienced it for ourselves. In previous years, due to high demand and limited availability, Cedar Point used a raffle system, so could you purchase tickets only if you were selected in the raffle process.

Previous years had issues with the site crashing and ticket purchases. It is unclear if they will use the raffle system or go back to a standard purchase option.

This event allows guest to access behind the scenes areas and benefits a great cause, “A Kid Again”. Its a great opportunity to get a close look at “Top Thrill 2” before the 2024 season, so we expect demand to be extraordinarily high this year.

Opening Day

The 2024 season kicks off on May 4th, 10:00 AM – 8:00PM! May the fourth be with you!!! Check out some of our previous videos from Opening day!

Another hint that Top Thrill 2 will be ready on Opening Day is right here where it includes Top Thrill 2 as something to experience on opening day! How exciting!

CoasterMania!

Back for another year! We couldn’t make it to this year’s event in 2023, but we heard some of the changes they made really helped over previous years! Some of the waits in 2022 for the ERT (Exclusive Ride Time) were very long, so they moved the ERT to off peak hours during the event for some of the more popular rides.

They did announce that Top Thrill 2 will be included in this event, so prepare for Exclusive Ride Time on Top Thrill 2 if you missed Passholder Preview!

Last year, CoasterMania! attendees received a special Top Thrill 2 “keychain” to hang onto for the 2024 season. We haven’t heard what these can be used for yet, but maybe something with the Passholder Preview or ERT on Top Thrill 2. Some of the keychains are selling on Ebay for HUGE amounts!

This event also includes a Q&A, Dinner, and Boat ride around the park! Curious if attendees will get anything “Special” this year too!

HalloWeekends

Last, but definitely not least, Cedar Point’s Halloween event returns this year for its 27th season from September 12th – October 27th. Check out videos from previous years where we expereince the daytime activities for kids, and the night time events for the older crowd.

One special thing to remember about this event is that the park remains open for all during HalloWeekends, with the scary stuff is specially marked areas in the back of the park. The front of the park remains open and family friendly!

Other parks usually clear everyone out, make the park scary. This is something that makes Cedar Point Special!
