On the night on May 30th, multiple videos on social media started popping up of Top Thrill 2 testing!
This comes shortly after the ride unexpectedly closed on May 12. Cedar point released communications on their social media channels that the ride will be closed while the manufacturer made repairs to the train vehicles.
Although not explicitly stated from Cedar Point or the ride’s manufacturer, Zamperla, the wheels were removed from the trains for weeks. This led to speculation that something was wrong with the wheel assemblies.

But just this week, workers were spotted on May 29th and May 30th replacing the wheels.

With the wheels back on at least one train, Top Thrill 2 was spotted being tested May 30th. This gives many guests hope for Cedar Points yearly roller coaster event, coastermania. Top Thrill 2 was originally slated to have exclusive ride time for guests during the event, but after the ride was taken offline, the verbiage in the itinerary was updated to āif the ride is availableā.
We ( and likely Cedar Point) hope to get the ride fully back up and running and tested before Coastermania for their guests! The last hurdle would be get to ride certified by officials before returning to operation.
