Cedar Point announced when riders can expect to ride Top Thrill 2 for the very first time, and it’s before opening day on May 4th, 2024!

Cedar Point will be hosting a special event starting on April 28th, 2024! This event has been broken up into four separate mini events for guests to attend based on their season pass holder status. One event will be available for purchase for non-season pass holders, but it will be very limited.

Tickets will be available for register/purchase on April 3rd, so be sure to follow Cedar Point and Tony Clark on Twitter so you’re ready to reserve/purchase your tickets. It doesn’t list a time, but Tony Clark will definitely tweet on X once registration opens. Usually it’s like 9 or 10 AM EST.

It sounds like tickets will be very limited, and they will be available on a “First come, first serve” basis. Previous events like Winter Chill out have led to website delays, so be sure to have your Season Pass ID ready for all attendees (except for Charity Ride) and pack your patient pants!

Prayers From Maria Charity Ride

The first event does not require an active Cedar Point Season Pass, and benefits a local charity, Prayers for Maria. Cedar Point has partnered with Prayers for the Maria in the past and they are known for their Sunflower fields, including the one next to the Cedar Point Express hotel.

This event is on Sunday, April 28th from Noon (EST) to 3 PM EST. The event is extremely exclusive and they go on sale starting Wednesday, April 3rd. Tickets are priced at $120 per ticket and include food and beverage, a commemorative Top Thrill 2 gift, and the ability to ride Top Thrill 2 “multiple” times according to Cedar Point.

Cedar Point will also be running Magnum XL-200, Power Tower, Corkscrew, and Super Himalaya, which is a nice benefit!

Cedar Point Prestige Passholder Preview

On the same day April 28th, Prestige Passholders that call their home park Cedar Point will have their chance to ride Top Thrill 2! The Prestige Passholder preview takes place right after the Prayers for Maria event, starting at 4:00 PM EST until 8:00 PM EST.

Unlike the Prayers for Maria event, Prestige pass holders will be given a “Boarding Time” to ride Top Thrill 2, so it doesn’t sound like anyone is going to be to ride more than once. Prestige pass holders will have a chance to purchase some new Top Thrill 2 merchandise and food and beverages from Back Beat Que.

BackBeatQue is one of our favorite dining venues in the park, and they are known for their BBQ! A menu has not been advertised, but it would be safe to assume they will have BBQ fixings.

I really love my Top Thrill 2 sweater, and I am looking forward to the new Merchandise for Top Thrill 2. Hopefully we get a spot as prestige pass holders!

Capacity is limited, so be ready to reserve your FREE spot as a prestige pass holder starting on April 3rd!

As I mentioned above, it’s important to note that this event is only available to those that have their home park as Cedar Point. So if you have a Prestige Pass with the All Park Passport, you can only attend if you purchased it through Cedar Point.

2023 Coastermania Keychain Holder Preview

In addition to Prestige pass holders, those who attended coaster mania in 2023 and still have their keychain that was gifted to all coaster mania attendees during the event will also be eligible to reserve their first rides on Top Thrill 2 on April 28th from 4:00 PM EST – 8:00 PM EST.

No Keychain, no admittance.

Similar to prestige pass holders, key chain holders will be able to reserve a boarding pass and the ability to purchase merchandise and food and beverage.

2024 Cedar Point Gold & Summer Passholder Previews

Last, but definitely not least is a three day event for current Cedar Point Gold and Summer Passholders. This will take place during the week on April 30th, May 1st, and May 2nd from 4:00 PM – 10:00 PM. Although it’s during the work week, it’s nice that it’s later in the day to give those who work a chance to ride!

It’s also worth mentioning that any Prestige Passholders or Gold Passholders with the all park passport that did not purchase their pass with Cedar Point as their home park is ineligible to attend this event as well. It seems that Cedar Point just want’s Cedar Point pass holders to attend this special event.

Since this event spans over multiple days, pass holders can choose to attend only 1 of those days. Similar to the Prestige pass holder day, Magnum XL-200, Corkscrew, Power Tower, and Super Himilaya will be open to ride as well! BackBeatQue and the CP Racing store will also be open for food and beverage and merchandise purchases during the event. And like the Prestige event, a boarding pass will be assigned for guests to ride Top Thrill 2.

Tickets are free to those with a Gold or Summer pass from Cedar Point and registration opens April 3rd, 2024!

My Thoughts

This event is going to be awesome and I can’t wait to attend if I can secure a ticket. I hope the registration is first come first serve, but I worry about server availability when the registration opens based on past experiences with Winter Chill Out Tickets.

The Cedar Point Blog post says that tickets will be first come first serve, but also mentions “Not all Passholders or guests will have the opportunity to participate.”

I think this is confusing because are they first come first serve to everyone or first come first serve to only selected passholders? If it’s only certain passholders, how will they be selected?

Ultimately, I think it just means that they will sell out so fast since they will be first come first serve for everyone.

I think it’s awesome that additional rides will be open during this event! If I get the chance to attend, I will definitely be riding Magnum and the Power Tower in addition to Top Thrill 2. I don’t think I’ll be riding corkscrew or Super Himalayan, but we will have to wait and see!

I am also curious to what type of food they will have at BackBeatQue. During the park season, BackBeatQue is the premiere BBQ spot in the park. But with it being the ONLY location, I bet they are going to have a balanced menu besides BBQ to be able to serve a wider audience as the single dining location. Something like Chicken Tenders will probably be there.

I am also really excited to see the CP Racing Store! This is the new themed merchandise location across from Top Thrill 2 that was previously speed zone (I think). Really looking forward to the retheme and any new Merch!
