Cedar Point’s highly anticipated new roller coaster, Siren’s Curse, officially opens today — and we were lucky enough to be invited to the park for Media Day to experience it ahead of the crowds. Let us tell you right now: this is not just a new ride, it’s an entirely new experience for Cedar Point fans.

A Ride Like No Other
Siren’s Curse stands 160 feet tall and hits speeds of 58 mph, but the stats only tell part of the story. What truly sets this ride apart is its signature tilt track, which dangles riders face-first over the midway for a dramatic 7-second pause before the plunge. That hangtime was longer — and more intense — than we expected, and it builds an incredible amount of suspense. When the track finally tilts and releases, the drop is pure adrenaline.
What surprised us the most was how smooth and balanced the ride felt. If you’re someone who sometimes feels a bit dizzy or overwhelmed on coasters like Maverick or Steel Vengeance (we’ve been there!), you’ll be happy to hear Siren’s Curse doesn’t have that same intensity. Instead, it delivers a thrilling, high-energy ride that keeps you completely engaged from start to finish — without ever feeling too much.
We rank Siren’s Curse as our #4 coaster in the entire park, and for 2025, it is without question the #1 must-ride attraction.
Theming That Delivers
Cedar Point truly knocked it out of the park with the theming. The queue immerses you in a haunted, abandoned shipyard straight out of a New England ghost story. It’s moody, atmospheric, and full of hidden details. And at night? The fog-filled tunnel, eerie lighting, and onboard train lights make this coaster an entirely different beast.
Oh — did we mention it’s the first Cedar Point coaster with onboard audio? It adds a thrilling soundtrack that elevates the experience even more.

Behind the Scenes at Media Day
During Media Day, we had the opportunity to speak with several key people behind Siren’s Curse:
- Ricardo from Vekoma, the ride manufacturer, gave us insight into the cutting-edge tech that went into this coaster.
- Dave, the construction manager, walked us through how this ride transformed the park’s layout.
- And Colleen, Cedar Point’s new park manager, shared her excitement about Siren’s Curse being a symbol of where the park is headed in the future.
Park Changes You’ll Notice
Siren’s Curse didn’t just add a new coaster — it reshaped the area around it:
- The Iron Dragon queue was re-routed to accommodate the new ride’s footprint.
- The nearby bathrooms were refreshed and updated — much appreciated!
- The main stage in this area was removed, opening up more space and sightlines around the midway.
Know Before You Go

A few things to keep in mind before riding:
- Metal detectors are in place at the ride entrance.
- Large bags must be stored in paid lockers near the ride.
- Free in-queue lockers are available for smaller items like phones, wallets, and keys.
- The ride participates in Fast Lane and also offers single-use Fast Lane options at a kiosk outside the attraction.
- Test seats are available near the entrance — the restraints are super comfortable, but plus-size riders should check the fit before queuing up.

Final Thoughts
Cedar Point took some big swings with Siren’s Curse, and every one of them hit. From groundbreaking ride mechanics to hauntingly beautiful theming, this is a coaster that will be talked about for seasons to come. Whether you’re a thrill-seeker or someone who prefers a slightly tamer ride experience, Siren’s Curse strikes an ideal balance — thrilling, immersive, and totally re-rideable.
Try it during the day for the views and again at night for the full spooky siren effect. Either way, Siren’s Curse should be at the very top of your 2025 Cedar Point checklist.
Let us know what you think once you ride it!
