Visiting Kings Island with your Family in 2023

Make sure to check out our last post for everything new coming to Kings Island in 2023. The biggest announcement is the new family themed area, Adventure Port. Check out our post for all the details. In this post, we cover what families need to know before visiting Kings Island in 2023.

The first thing you should know about is Planet Snoopy. Cedar Fair parks have special themed areas for young kids in their parks themed around the peanuts characters. The names of the areas vary between parks, but usually follow the naming convention around Planet Snoopy, Camp Snoopy, or Kiddie Kingdom depending on the park.

Planet Snoopy

At Kings Island, they currently have one family area themed around the Peanuts characters called Planet Snoopy. This area caters to a wide range of children with 19 rides, including four roller coasters! The roller coasters range from the Great Pumpkin Coaster (min height 36″) to The Flying Ace Aerial Chase (min height requirement 44″).

In addition to Coasters, Kings Island has a new “Meet N Greet” to see the Peanuts Characters up close in Planet Snoopy. Check out our Video above for a full walk through! Unfortunately we must have timed it poorly since we missed Snoopy and Charlie Brown!

Planet Snoopy also has multiple rides with varying requirements for kids of all ages! Our kids loved the Peanuts 500 and the Merry Go round at Planet Snoopy. The kids also liked “Woodstock’s Whirlybirds”, but the wait for this attraction was upwards of 45 minutes. This ride does not have a high capacity, and the load and unload is slow, so be prepared for a wait!

In addition to rides, Planet Snoopy also has a Quick Service location called “Planet Snoopy Grill”. Check our their full menu from Cedar Point Food Blog here. They also have an ice cream quick service location that serves up their famous “Blue” ice cream. The kids loved it!

Other Family Attractions

Most of the family themed items are within Planet Snoopy, but there are some other attractions in the park for family’s to enjoy besides the roller coasters. The bigger roller coasters have a higher height requirement, but if your children are 54″, there are plenty of coasters for them to experience across the park!

Coney Mall Area

They have a few Family rides in the Coney Mall area, including Dodgem (Min Height 48″), Antique Cars (Min Height 48″ alone, accompanied – no height limit), and the Scrambler (Min Height 36″). There are a few other “Family rides” in this land, but I believe these are the few true family rides.

International Street

In the front of the park, and technically adjacent to Camp Snoopy, you’ll find three great family rides on International street. The Grand Carousel, the Eiffel Tower, and Boo Blasters (Min Height 42″).

Rivertown

Our favorite non-Planet Snoopy family ride has to be the Kings Island & Miami Valley Railroad! For this ride, you must be at least 46″ to ride alone, but there is no height restriction when accompanied with an adult, meaning the kids can ride! This is always a must do in the park. It’s a nice break from walking and the ride has high capacity, meaning no wait usually over 15 minutes.

Conclusion

In Conclusion, Kings Island is a great Family Park, especially with the addition of two new flat rides coming this summer in adventure port. There is more than just coasters at this park. I highly recommend visiting with your littles. One thing Kings Island does not have is a Pre-K pass. A pre-K pass is a free season pass for kids in Preschool and under (ages 3-5). Our home park Cedar Point participates and we love this option.

If you don’t have a season pass, I would potentially argue against the value of the gate price admission for a family of four just for Planet Snoopy. However, I recommend checking online, since the prices are always cheaper than at the gate. I would recommend purchasing tickets online to visit this park with your family.

We also experienced the “All Day Dining” which allows you to eat every 90 minutes. We highly recommend this if you do not have the All Season Plan or are just planning to visit once this season. The kids loved the pizza!

I hope you enjoyed this real family vacation! Don’t forget to check us out on Twitter, Instagram, and Youtube!
