#Kerneycation was able to visit the #Cleveland #Metroparks #Zoo today and preview some of their #WildWinterLights on display. The crews were busy testing and preparing for the debut staring November 15th for drive thru and November 17th! It was nice to see some of the lights “turned on” during the day!
If you have a Zoo membership, be sure to check out the displays during the day, although it’s not nearly as elegant when compared to the night time viewing! The biggest draw to visit during the day is the crowd levels. We got up front and close at all the exhibits and saw another person about once every 10 minutes today. It was nice to see some of the animals up close without the crowds!
For the event, You can buy tickets here, which runs specific dates between 5:30 pm to 10:30 pm from November 15th – December 30th this year.
Per the Zoo’s website: “Advanced discounted tickets on walk-through evenings for Zoo members is $19 and $22 for non-members, or a 4-pack for $57 for Zoo members and $66 for non-members. Advance online ticket sales end at 4:30 p.m. Tickets for the drive-through experience are $57 per car for Zoo members and $66 per car for non-members.”
According to the Cleveland Metroparks website, they will have over 1.5 million lights on display with multiple “themed areas including Candyland, Enchanted Forest, Starry Skies, Future for Wildlife Trail and Santa’s Workshop, where guests can take photos with Santa.”
The Zoo transforms the Wolves exhibit into Santa’s North Pole each year for pictures with Santa. Last year, we really loved the ability a digital copy of our photos and I hope they bring it back!
They also had a couple of characters last year, Rudolph and the Grinch! The kids really loved them (It was extremely windy last year) and we hope they make an appearance in 2022 as well!
Today, we also saw they were transforming the Ice Cream shop near Swan Lake into a Christmas Shop. I honestly can’t remember if they did this last year, but we can’t wait to check it out!
Lastly, they will also have complementary carousel rides thanks to one of the sponsors, Meijer. They also were in the process of setting up the 50 foot Christmas tree’s for the synchronized song and light show (right after the Rhino Exhibit).
