Universal Orlando Resort has officially unveiled its next adrenaline-fueled attraction: Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift, a high-speed outdoor roller coaster coming to Universal Studios Florida in 2027. The announcement, made on January 20, 2026, confirms this ride will replace the iconic Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit coaster and bring a fresh, kinetic thrill experience to the park’s lineup.

What to Expect on the Ride

Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift promises to put riders “in the driver’s seat” of high-speed action inspired by the worldwide blockbuster film franchise. While full details are being rolled out over the coming months, the press release confirms key features of the ride including:

  • 🎢 A 170-foot vertical spike that sends riders nearly 17 stories into the air, creating dramatic views over Universal CityWalk.
  • 🔄 A thrill-packed layout filled with high-speed maneuvers and an immersive outdoor experience.
  • 🚗 The exhilarating sensation of 360-degree drifting, inspired by the franchise’s signature car action.

These design elements mark a significant step up from the current Fast & Furious attraction — Supercharged — which will permanently close in 2027 to make way for the new coaster.

Hollywood Drift — The West Coast Inspiration

Universal Studios Hollywood is debuting its own version of Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift in 2026. This version gives us an early look at what Florida’s ride might feel like:

  • 🚀 Top Speed: Reaches up to 72 MPH, making it the fastest coaster in the Universal Destinations & Experiences portfolio.
  • 📏 Track Length: About 4,100 feet of intricate layout, equivalent to nearly 12 football fields.
  • 🔄 Rotational Ride Vehicles: Each car spins independently to mimic real drifting motion, bringing a unique dynamic to the coaster experience.
  • 🎬 Immersive theming with vehicles modeled after iconic cars from the Fast & Furious franchise.

While local specifics such as height requirements and additional ride specs for the Florida version have not yet been released, the Hollywood iteration provides a strong benchmark for what fans can look forward to. The combination of speed, rotation, and a dramatic vertical spike sets Hollywood Drift apart as a major new thrill attraction for Universal parks.
